Twenty-One Days to Financial Freedom

It has been a while since I've blogged. I thought I might give it a go again. But over the next few weeks I am going to be focusing on my personal financial makeover journey. So here we go. I picked up this book called The Power to Prosper: 21 Days to Financial Freedom by Michelle Singletary and basically this book takes you on a 21 day financial fast that only limits you to purchasing the bare necessities and not using any form of plastic. One of the requirements ask you to keep a journal. I have decided to do my journal in an online form hence this blog. It also keeps my accountable. So here goes.

Day 1: Breaking Bonds

Today's focus is on how I have to break the bond that spending holds on me. I will admit that I like to spend money. Who doesn't? But, seeing that my spending recklessly for mostly hasn't brought on good results I am in need of change. So here is the pledge that Ms. Singletary has asked us to make

Pledge: For the next twenty-one days, I will be on a spending diet. I will not shop for anything except necessities. I will not use my credit card. I will limit or eliminate the use of my debit card. I will use cash for purchases I make during the fast. In this way, I will strive to break the chains that keep me from achieving financial freedom.

There it is folks. That is my pledge I plan on upholding for the next 21 days. I plan on knowing so much in the end. I'll be back tomorrow.
